Pickleball has taken the world by storm, with plenty of new players picking up a paddle every year. This growth in popularity has driven increases in pickleball court construction projects. However, rather than starting fresh, existing basketball and tennis courts are being modified to include accurate pickleball dimensions.

Standard pickleball courts are built to be 20-foot by 44-foot-long rectangles, with a net height of around 34 inches at the center and 36 inches at each post. Space is also provided around the court, making the minimum playing surface 30 feet wide by 60 feet long. Let’s check how these pickleball court sizes compare to the size of other courts.

How Many Pickleball Courts Fit on a Basketball Court?

A standard basketball court can fit roughly three pickleball courts with 30 foot by 60 foot playing surfaces. However, basketball courts come in various sizes, which differ due to player age, gender and competition level. The NBA, WNBA and NCAA use the largest basketball courts at 94 feet long and 50 feet wide. High school courts are typically only 84 feet long. So, how many pickleball courts you can fit in a basketball playing surface depends on what kind of court you have.

How Many Pickleball Courts Fit on a Tennis Court?

Pickleball is quite similar to tennis, although it’s played within a much smaller area. A tennis court can generally fit four pickleball courts.

A typical tennis court is 78 feet long and varies in width depending on whether it is used for singles or doubles match play. A tennis court is a bit narrower for singles, with a width of 27 feet, while a court used for pairs comes in at 36 feet. Since ample space surrounding the court is required, tennis courts need a 60 feet-long and 120 feet wide playing area.
